I’ve used these glass vials in a variety of jewelry making projects over the years. They’re like miniature works of art. You can put all sorts of things inside of these, beads, glitter, printed messages...whatever makes you smile. This is the perfect way to tell Mom how much you love her with a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted wearable work of art! It’s so easy to make these with Tulip Fashion Glitter and Aleene’s glue; you’ll find yourself looking for reasons to make more! I made some matching earrings using some smaller glass vials using the same techniques for a fun, fast and fabulous jewelry set just for mom.

Materials 
Miniature glass jar with cork top
Thin ribbon for accent
One large puffy and four small flat felt hearts in pink and white
Tulip Fashion Glitter in multi medium crystal
Screw eye
Ball chain necklace
2 ear wires
2 jump rings
Aleene’s Quick Dry Tacky Glue
Aleene’s Stop Fraying
Aleene's Collage Pauge Matte

Tools 
2 small paintbrushes
Chain nose pliers
Scissors
Computer and printer

Pour a small amount of glitter into vial. Add felt hearts, use end of paintbrush to position them in vial.  Add a small amount of glue around edge of cork stopper, insert into vial top. Use paintbrush to remove any excess glue.

Add a small amount of glue to screw eye, use chain nose pliers to screw into center top of cork stopper. Allow all glue to dry.

Take a small ribbon and tie in a bow around rim of jar. Use Aleene’s Stop Fraying on ends of ribbon. Allow to dry.

Use a typewriter font to print xoxo, x and o in 10pt. Cut out using scissors and decoupage to front of jars with Collage Pauge and a small paintbrush.  Thread screw eye with ball chain necklace.  Use smaller jars with glitter and ribbon to make matching earrings. Attach a jump ring and ear wire to top of stopper, repeat for second earring.

Avalon has a small collection of make-up all mixed up in a cluttered drawer, so this was a perfect way for her to get it all organized. This project was all her idea, I just helped with some advice and am posting the instructions! It is so easy to turn a few pieces of craft store felt and some ribbon into a delightful decorative pouch using Aleene's Tacky Glue. You can style this however you choose, I love the chocolate brown with the pops of orange and fuchsia Avalon selected.

Materials
Brown Craft Felt
Hot Pink Craft Felt
Fuchsia Craft Felt
Genevieve Gail Boho Felt Flowers (1 die cut orange and one solid yellow)
3/8" Fuchsia grosgrain ribbon (Offray)
5/8" Medium rick rack orange (Simplicity)
1 Tulip Glam-it-up blue metallic crystal
Aleene's Super Thick Tacky Glue
Layered flower die
6 grommets

Tools
Die Cutter (I used a Sizzix Big Shot)
Grommet setting tool (I used a Crop-a-dile)
Scissors

The body of the bag is a full piece of brown felt folded in the middle. The bottom flowers are pre-cut, use die cutter to cut the layered top flowers. Glue and stack flowers.

Add grommets to sides and center of pouch on both sides using grommet setter. Glue edges of pouch together, add flowers and rick rack ribbon trim with glue. Attach crystal to center of flower with glue. Place something inside of pouch and on top of flowers to prevent glue seepage and lay under a large book and allow glue to dry.

Add ribbons. Tie ribbons through grommets at both sides, you can secure this with a dab of glue and optionally add Aleene's Stop Fraying to ribbon ends. Tie a knot in a 6" segment of ribbon and thread into grommet in center, repeat for opposite side. This will allow you to tie pouch closed.

My mom has been working a new video tutorial using black and white scrapbook papers. I loved her project and wanted to do a variation. Since it's almost New Year's, I added lots of sparkles so it would feel just like the day itself. This project is very easy to make and when you are done you will have something that you can wear on New Years or any day of the year!

Materials
Double sided black and white toile scrapbook paper
Large jump ring
Mini-ribbon bow tie
Aleene's Tacky Line Roll
Tulip Dimensional Fabric Paint glitter in gold
Tulip Fashion glitter in light gold jewel
Gold chain

Tools
Scissors
Ruler
Bone folder


Instructions

1.Take your black and white paper and cut out a piece that is 2.5"x6.5".

2.Take the piece and start to fold back and forth on the long side making each fold about a .5" wide. use a bone folder to make strong creases.

3.Once you have folded the whole piece fold the ends together from the center point making a fan.

4.Where the fan edges meet adhere Tacky Line Roll all the way down then pinch the middle pieces together.

5.Next put a thin line of Dimensional gold glitter on the folds and on the bottom. Then shake more gold glitter on top of that, tap off excess and allow to dry.

6.On the top attach a little white bow using Tacky Line Roll.

7. Take a large jump ring and string it through the top where the fan meets.

8. Slide a chain through the jump ring. You now have a fun and festive New Year's necklace!

Recently I have noticed a fashion trend toward feathers. They are on clothes, jewelry, they are even glued into people’s hair! I didn't feel like the little skinny feather in your hair made much of a statement, so I made this week’s project as an over the top salute to the new feather trend. It’s fun, crazy, and creative so I hope you have as much fun making it as you do wearing it!


Supplies
Aleene's Liquid Fusion
Aleene's Jewel-It Adhesive
Tulip® Glam-It-Up!™ Iron-On Studs™
Multicolor felt bird scrapbook sticker
Black plastic headband
Feathers (Hot Pink, Yellow, Green, Red)

Instructions

1. Attach three feathers together by applying Liquid Fusion to the bottom of the feathers. It should be spread slightly so it has almost a fan effect but no gaps between the feathers. Let dry for 2-4 hours.


2. Next take your felt bird and lay out your seven crystals around the tail to the head. It should go in this order: purple, light pink, red, orange, dark yellow, light blue. Then put a dark blue on the eye. Put a dab of Jewel-It on each crystal, apply to the felt bird in pre-determined spot. I used glue since the felt was made of man made fiber. Allow to dry for 10 minutes.


3. Use the Liquid Fusion to glue you felt bird to the bottom of the feathers and let set for a few minutes before the next step. Now on the back of your feathers apply a line of glue on the middle feather and attach to the side of the headband. Let dry for 2-4 hours.

Lately I have been a little obsessed with Tulip 3D fashion paints, I have made multiple t-shirts playing with the paints and recently developed this technique. I think it is very fun and beautiful once finished. I love working with tulip paints and I know that you will not be disappointed!


Materials

Lectric Lime Tulip Slick 3D Fashion Paint
Fl. Pink Slick Tulip 3D Fashion Paint
Deep Turquoise Slick Tulip 3D Fashion Paint
White tank top
Tulip t-shirt form
Paper
Pencil

Instructions


1. Draw out your design on a piece of paper using pencil, then practice tracing over the design with you paints till you feel comfortable with them.


2. On your shirt start with the first large tendril using Lectric Lime. For the next three tendrils use in this order Deep Turquoise, Fl. Pink, and Lectric Lime.

3.To give it that necklace effect on the seem on the neck use Fl. Pink on the left side and Deep Turquoise on the right.

Mom’s Note
Avalon decorated this canvas bag using the same technique, but layering the colors over each other. I thought this was a really cool effect and the technique itself innovative and interesting. To me, it looks like branch coral. You could decorate a super fun canvas beach tote with this technique.

I have a confession to make; I have a knee high sock obsession. They fill my drawers, they are scattered across my room, and they are even on my feet right now! I had been trying out an idea with tie dye and I had so much left over I scoured my room for something else to dye. After I had dyed the socks and another white shirt I put it the wash and anxiously awaited the result. When I saw the original shirt I realized it was not going to work out so I grabbed my socks and thought up a new design!

Materials:
One Step Tie-Dye Classic
Scissors
White knee high socks
Aleenes fabric fusion
Needle
Thread
White shirt (Use an old white shirt since you will be cutting it)
Ruler

Tools:
Washer
Dryer


Instructions:

1. Follow the instructions in the kit for the folding technique on your pair of socks.

2. Next for your shirt follow the swirl technique instructions in the kit.

3. Let the shirt and socks sit for 5-6 hours as per instructions. Take the rubber bands off and wash and dry them.

4. Take your shirt and cut off the seam on the bottom (this will be the flower). It should be about 12 inches long and ¾ inch wide. You will need two pieces.



5. Tie a knot at the end of the strip and begin twisting and rolling the strip around the knot, dabbing glue as you roll.



6. Continue rolling, twisting and gluing until you reach the end then attach the end to the back of the flower.



7. Sew the back of the flower to the top of the sock.

8. Enjoy wearing your amazing tie dye socks!

When I attended the CHA convention in Los Angeles for ILoveToCreate I got to use a great new product; Beads in a Bottle. Beads in a Bottle comes out in dabs of paint but dries like perfectly rounded beads. Everyone that saw this product just fell in love with it. Beads in a Bottle was so fun to use and so simple, I knew there had to be more I could with it than just make beads. This week I was planning to do a tie dye project with a headband. I could not find my tie dye kit, so instead I grabbed my Beads in a Bottle. While I was making the beads, I was rushing through and they were not turning out right. Finally I just chose to wipe the whole thing off. After I tried to wipe the paint off, I noticed how it looked like tie dye. I was so pleased with the effect, I decided to use it for my project this week. My mom calls this a craftastrophe turned into a crafty success!

Materials
Tulip Beads in a Bottle semi precious colors
2" thick white fabric covered head band
Paper towels
Aleene's Liquid Fusion glue
Large and small felt flowers with rhinestone accents in green, pink, and purple (wide enough to fit head band)

Instructions

1. Take your first Beads in a Bottle color and apply a few medium sized dots anywhere on the headband. This will be the test to determine how long to leave the paint on it.

2. After a few minutes take a paper towel and wipe the dots off going in the same direction. If it turns grayish and wipes right off it needs a little more time to dry or if the bottom sticks it needs a little less time to dry. Once it spreads evenly without coming off or sticking too much, you can start making semi-circles with the paint dots, arching the dots and randomly adding dots to the surface.

3. Let all of the dots dry for the appropriate amount of time then wipe them across the head band in one fluid motion like the ones you practiced with.

4. In any empty spots, fill in with whatever color you like using the same technique as before.

7. Once you have finished with adding and wiping off the beads, the headband should have a tye dyed/camouflage appearance to it.

8. Attach flowers to center of headband, working from edge to edge, using smaller flowers on thinner segments of the band and larger in the center.

10. Let the liquid fusion dry before wearing.

School is back and school spirit is higher then ever. I thought for my first project I would do something for spirit week. At Twin Valley we have a school spirit day were we wear our school colors. It helps get everyone excited for the new school year. So I thought what better way to get the readers excited for not only school but my first blog?

This project is great if you want an intro to the ILovetoCreate Custom Dye Color Kit!

Materials
Cotton t-shirt
Rubber bands
Tulip Custom Dye Color Kit
Disposable rubber gloves
Salt
Tulip Fabric Markers (bright)
Ribbon

Tools
Fabric scissors
Large pot or bucket
Large wooden spoon



1. Select your shirt. Wash shirt to remove sizing. Make sure you’ve got your mom or dad with you, the dye can irritate your eyes or your skin. Follow directions on package carefully.


2. Protect work surface with plastic bags and newspaper. Wearing rubber gloves, prepare 2 gallon dye bath in a large pot or bucket following recipe in the pamphlet that comes with the dye kit. I used Shamrock.





3. Use rubber bands to tie off shirt to create patterns. You can fold and secure or twist and secure, each new way of securing the shirt fabric will create unique designs. You can find a lot of great techniques on the ILoveToCreate website.


4. Place shirt in dye bath and stir for 15 minutes. Keep shirt in bath for one hour, stirring every ten or so minutes.

5. Remove shirt from dye bath and remove rubber bands. Wash shirt on hottest setting with laundry soap. Wash separately from other clothing for the first few washings.

6. Use fabric markers to write the name of your school across front of t-shirt.

7. Cut off sleeves, cut off bottom of shirt and cut off the collar to create a boat neck style.

8. Use coordinating ribbons to tie the tops of each arm hole.
